Although Odia songs are not very famous in other industries, they sure are popular in the region. Keeping the same in mind, Odia music industry focuses on producing lively and mesmerizing Odia songs which are a true delight to the ears. The major attention is indeed drawn by the songs of the film. Similarly, Ollywood looks out for some good Odia songs which would add the perfect spice to the movies. But as they say, Indian genre films cannot do without some good and peppy music. Ollywood or the Odia film industry is regionally famous for producing some good movies. With time passing by, the composition and penning of this genre of music has changed in many ways. The saint-poets were the ones who composed lyrical poems which were to be sung during the rituals. It consists of words to be sung in a fast beat, also known regionally as druta tala. Odissi music is known for another feature which is the padi. Orissa is the state which is home to charming and colorful music which encompasses several streams. It may astound you that this genre of music holds a history backing almost 2500 years back. The traditional form of Odia music was the one which was sung in temples and on different occasions as a part of the temple’s service. Odia music is known to be a synthesis of four music namely dhruvapada, chitrapada, chitrakala, and panchal. Odia music comprises all the necessary elements which are similar to Hindustani and Karnataki music. The traveling bards are known to be an important part of the history of the country’s heritage. If you're looking for a sappy one, I'd recommend One Day.Orissa is the state known as one of the musical centers of South Asia. I'll probably give it a three out of five on Netflix. The story is nice and fun throughout but I will say I hated the ending. Jim Sturgess, who plays Hathaway's love interest, does a good job but I can't help feeling like a stronger actor would have played this role a little better and strengthened the overall movie.įor a sappy movie to see on Valentines Day, I really enjoyed it. The rest of the cast, while mostly no names, still does a very nice job. Her overall performance is not as strong as in other films such as Devil Wears Prada, but frankly she just isn't asked to do as much. There are some characters in the film that either shouldn't have existed or needed some additional fleshing out.Īnne Hathaway is again very impressive in One Day with a sometimes mousy appearance while at other times looking stunning. There are some very interesting side stories that keep the plot going. Sometimes the couple is together, sometimes not, but it is very interesting to see their development from college graduation to full blown adulthood. One Day follows a couple on their life's journey on one particular date in their lives over a period of 22 years. Honestly, the movie looked kind of cute so I dove in.
I was hopeful because I've always been impressed with Anne Hathaway's acting chops. My wife and I saw this one on Valentines Day, so we were both in the right mood to see a sappy love story.
